HUD OIG is auditing the Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity's (FHEO) timeliness of investigations for Title VIII complaints.  Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 requires that HUD complete investigations of each complaint within 100 days of the date it was filed unless it is impracticable to do so.  Our objective is to assess challenges faced by FHEO in meeting the 100-day investigation requirement for Title VIII complaints.

HUD OIG has initiated an attestation engagement of HUD’s Fiscal Year 2022 National Drug Control activities. Our objective is to obtain limited assurance about whether any material modifications should be made to HUD’s assertions on its drug control funding and accompanying fiscal year 2022 reports in order for them to be in accordance with ONDCP’s requirements. OIG is required to do this attestation at least every 3 years.

HUD OIG has initiated an audit of HUD's Community Development Block Grants (CDBG-Non-State) Grantee Federal Financial Reporting.

HUD OIG is auditing HUD’s ONAP COVID 19 Recovery Program, which includes funds provided by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) and American Rescue Plan (ARP) Acts. Congress provided over $1 billion in ONAP CARES and ARP grant formula and competitive funding. Our objective is to determine the challenges that Native American and Hawaiian tribes face in implementing and utilizing the funding provided by the CARES and ARP Acts and how ONAP has helped the tribes navigate the COVID-19 recovery programs available.

HUD OIG is auditing the Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opporunity (FHEO) fair housing and civil rights compliance reviews. FHEO has authority to conduct compliance reviews to determine whether a recipient of HUD funds was following applicable civil rights laws and their implementing regulations. Our objective is to assess how the Department , through FHEO and its partners, performed compliance reviews.

HUD OIG is auditing HUD's Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) implementation of Executive Order 13988. The order described how to enforce prohibitions on sex discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation.

The Office of Inspector General is initiating an evaluation of the Office of Community Planning and Development’s (CPD) use of remote monitoring between October 1, 2018 and September 30, 2021. Our objectives are to determine (1) what has changed in CPD’s monitoring approach, and (2) what opportunities for improvement exist in CPD’s use of remote monitoring.

The Office of Evaluation is initiating an evaluation of HUD’s processes for addressing cases of children residing in public housing with elevated blood lead levels (EBLL).  The objectives are to: 1. Use available information to identify HUD-assisted properties owned and managed by public housing agencies at risk of having lead-based paint hazards. 2. Determine the effectiveness of HUD’s processes for addressing cases of children residing in public housing with EBLLs. 3.

HUD OIG is reviewing HUD’s Office of Community Planning and Development’s (CPD) HUD’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Community Development Block Grants (CDBG-CV) program.  The CARES Act provided $4.9 billion in CCDBG-CV funds to be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus.  Our objective is to determine what challenges grantees faced in obligating and spending their allocated CDBG-CV funds for activities that prepare for, prevent, or respond to COVID-19 and its impact.
